Introducing JobVantage: the AI matching layer recruitment agencies have been missing

Recruitment has a matching problem, not a candidate shortage problem. Most agencies are still running keyword searches and gut calls. Here is what we built, and why it matters now.

There are tens of thousands of registered recruitment agencies in the UK. Most of them run some version of the same workflow: pull CVs from a database, scan job boards, make calls, send speccing emails. The tools they use to do this have barely changed in a decade. Shortlists are built on keyword searches and pattern recognition. That approach works some of the time. When it does not, the recruiter usually does not find out until a client stops returning calls.

JobVantage is an AI matching layer that sits on top of whatever ATS or CRM a recruitment agency already uses. Upload a candidate CV and get a ranked shortlist of matched jobs, each scored against the actual requirements of the role and accompanied by a written explanation of why it made the cut. Or flip it: upload a job spec and get the best-matched candidates from your existing pool. Either way, the output is something a recruiter can act on immediately: a shortlist with reasoning, decision-maker contact details for the target companies, and a draft speccing email ready to send.

The gap we are filling

The problem is not that existing tools cannot run a search. They can. The problem is the distance between running a search and producing a match. Finding candidates who have the right words on their CV is different from finding candidates who are genuinely suited to the role. That difference shows up in whether a speccing email lands or goes ignored. It shows up in client retention. And over time, it shows up in which agencies are winning briefs and which are not.

The incumbents in this space, the Bullhorns and the job boards, are built around data storage and distribution. They were not designed to reason about fit. That is not a criticism; it is just a different problem than the one they were built to solve. JobVantage is built specifically for the matching and outreach layer, the part of the process that determines whether a recruiter's time is spent on the right candidates or not.

Why this moment

AI is moving through recruitment quickly, but unevenly. The agencies adopting it now are not necessarily the largest or best-resourced. They are the ones who have understood that match quality is a competitive advantage, not a nice-to-have. A better shortlist produces a better speccing email, which produces a better client relationship, which produces more briefs. The compounding effect of improving match quality at the start of that chain is significant.

At the same time, the broader employment market is shifting. The government is investing in AI tools for job seekers. Candidates are entering the market better prepared and with higher expectations of the process. The recruitment agencies that are ready for that, with sharper matching and faster outreach, will be the ones they trust to find them the right role.

We are early in this shift. The agencies that have integrated AI matching into their process today will have a head start that is difficult to close. If you want to see what the matching looks like on your own candidates, book a demo.
